Spring School Holidays at the Libraries
Libraries are the places to be these School Holidays! Shake off the Winter blues and book into the creative and inspiring activities on offer, or just pop into the Libraries anytime to complete the Treasure Hunt, Create with Duplo, and enjoy some fabulous books!
Bookings for the activities open online on Monday 12 September, 9.30am, at a cost of $4.00 per child per activity.
- Bookings and online payment are essential, there will be no refunds issued.
- Parents/carers of children under 12 years are required by library policy to remain in the building while their children attend the event.
- There is a maximum of three events per child.

Explore how everyday materials like paper can be transformed into living breathing puppets. The Spare Parts Puppet Theatre will guide children through puppet manipulation and storytelling techniques, encouraging critical and creative thinking, and having a lot of fun! Book online.
Performing with Puppets
Wednesday 28 September, 1.00pm – 2.30pm, Woodvale Library
8 – 12 years
Discover the magic of puppeteering with the Spare Parts Puppet Theatre. Working with a variety of professionally made puppets, children will be introduced to performance skills, through drama improvisation, story creation and telling, puppet manipulation and play. Book online.

Come along for a fun and crafty afternoon to celebrate the amazing world of owls. Owls are incredible – they are beautiful, mysterious, spooky AND cute! Enjoy lots of stories, fun facts, and special owly craft activities. Book online.

Be inspired by the stunning colours of the rainforest in this relaxing and creative painting workshop. Guided by local artist Adriana Nascimento, children will learn basic painting techniques and produce a rainforest animal on canvas that they can take home and be proud of. Book online.

One of Spare Parts Puppet Theatre’s most popular workshops! Children will have a blast creating their own puppet characters using a range of soft fabric materials, and learning how colour, texture and form relate to emotions and characters in puppetry. Book online.

8 – 12 years
Join the Spare Parts Puppet Theatre and transform everyday junk into amazing puppets! Using recycled materials along with wire, glue, drills, saws, hammers and loads of imagination, children will explore construction and design principles to create fantastical creature puppets. Meet the Author – Ash Harrier

Let your imagination run wild and create a group mystery story with a real mystery author!
Local Ash Harrier is the author of a quirky murder mystery series for children, called The Alice England Mysteries. The Deadly Daylight is the first book in the series, and it follows Alice England, a curious 12 year old who works in her father’s funeral home. Together with her friends, Alice investigates the peculiar death of George Devenish, and sets out to solve a mystery that is much bigger than anyone expected! Join Ash for some fun and engaging activities to inspire the creative process, and be inspired by her own writing journey. Spring Garden Art

DIY Maker Space
