Support for small business at hand
David Eaton, WA Small Business Development Commissioner, and CEO of the Small Business Development Corporation, will provide the keynote address at the City of Joondalup’s first business forum of 2019 at Joondalup Resort on Thursday 21 March.
The theme, support for small business, will be particularly relevant given that small and micro-sized enterprises (less than 20 employees) represent almost 98% of all businesses in Joondalup.
Mr Eaton oversees the SBDC, whose primary role is to encourage, promote, facilitate and assist the establishment, growth and development of small business.
More than 120 members of the local business community and key City stakeholders are expected to attend the breakfast forum where Mr Eaton will present an overview of various State Government-funded support services for local businesses.
Joondalup Mayor Albert Jacob said supporting small business was a key priority for the City.
“The City recognises that the success of the small business sector is a critical factor in increasing local employment opportunities. As such, it is vital that our business community is aware of programs, resources and opportunities available from all tiers of government to help them grow and prosper,” he said.
The opportunities available through the SBDC’s Business Local program and the Federal Government‘s Australian Small Business Advisory Services (ASBAS) Digital Solutions program provides local businesses with access to business development workshops and advice across a range of areas, which will help increase their knowledge and drive future business growth.
The forum will also be an opportunity for local businesses to find out more about the City’s Innovation Fund, which now includes new categories for start-ups and businesses at pre-revenue stage.
Those interested can register their attendance until Tuesday 12 March.
