Green waste bin (lime green lid)

The City currently operate a three-bin Garden Organics (GO) system. This means households can have a general waste bin, recycling bin, and a GO bin. The State Government (Waste Authority) have put together the Waste Avoidance and Resource Recovery Strategy 2030. Part of the strategy states that all local governments in the Perth and Peel region provide a consistent three-bin kerbside collection system that includes separation of Food Organics and Garden Organics (FOGO) from other waste categories by 2025. More information on FOGO will be provided in the future.

Tips for using your GO bin:

  1. Keep items small in size.
  2. Keep garden organic waste loose and not in bags.
  3. Avoid compaction of lawn clippings (e.g. mow lawn when its dry or closer to collection day, place branches/twigs at the bottom).
  4. The bin should not weigh more than 70kg.
  5. For details on where to dispose of specific items, please refer to theĀ Waste Disposal Guide.
