Cultural experience in Virtual Reality

Wednesday 5 October, Whitford Library, 10.00am – 2.00pm
Ages 12+

Produced by Periscope Pictures and winner of local, national and international screen awards, Virtual Whadjuk is a time machine that strips away the city high-rises before your eyes and transports audiences back nearly 200 years, placing them into a thriving Aboriginal Australian culture and pre-city flora, fauna and landscapes, as they existed in the moments leading up to first contact with Europeans.

The unique interactive documentary experience blends new mapping technologies, accurately generated landscapes, botanical data, 3D animation and interactive tasks with traditional documentary elements, giving users an Aboriginal body in which to experience a robust and deeply spiritual culture in the hours and moments before the first ship of European colonists arrived.

Each immersive Virtual Tour will run for 30 minutes. Cost $5.00. Book online.

Whadjuk… is the name of the dialectal group from the Perth area. Whadjuk is situated south of Yued and north of the Pinjarup dialectal groups. The major cities and towns within the Whadjuk region include Perth, Fremantle, Joondalup, Armadale, Toodyay, Wundowie, Bullsbrook and Chidlow.
