Enjoy summer at the libraries this January with a range of fun activities that inspire creativity and encourage curiosity.  

Bookings open on Monday 22 December at 9am.

Please note:

  • Cost is $5 per child per activity.
  • Online bookings open on Monday 22 December at 9am.
  • Bookings and online payment are essential, there will be no refunds issued.
  • Parents/carers of children under 12 years are required by library policy to remain in the building while their children attend the event.
  • There is a maximum of three events per child.

Meet the Recycling TruckTuesday 6 January, 10-11am
Woodvale Library

Get up close and personal with a real recycling truck! Kids will love exploring the truck, learning how it works and discovering where our recycling goes. With fun, hands-on activities and friendly waste education officers on site, it's the perfect way to spark eco-friendly habits early. Bring your questions, your curiosity and your best recycling skills! Suitable for ages 3-7 years.

Junior Coral KeepersThursday 8 January, 10-11.30am
Woodvale Library

Dive into the colourful world of Western Australia's coral reefs! Become a junior coral keeper in this fun, hands-on workshop, creating your own coral reef art while learning how small actions can help protect our local reefs. Each child will take home their own mini reef artwork and a deeper understanding of how we can help care for our oceans. Suitable for ages 6-10 years.

Abracadabra!Thursday 8 January, 2-3pm
Joondalup Library
Join the amazing Cameron the Magician for a fun and interactive workshop learning the skills and tricks needed to perform great magic routines. Create your own special magic prop to continue making magic at home. Suitable for ages 5-8 years.
Fairy HousesFriday 9 January, 10-11.30am
Whitford Library
Design and build your very own magical fairy house with local designer Ange Suleman. Children will use soft cloud clay to sculpt and decorate a whimsical little house, creating a magical keepsake to display at home. Suitable for ages 8-12 years.
Build a Race CarMonday 12 January, 2-3.30pm
Whitford Library

Explore the science behind the design and construction of motor vehicles with the Young Engineers and build your own car using special motorised LEGO kits. Learn to think like an engineer and have fun with STEM. Suitable for ages 4-8 years.

Mosaic Tea LightsTuesday 13 January, 10-11.30am
Joondalup Library

Explore the art of design through colour, texture and light with local designer Ange Suleman. Create your own beautiful tealight holder using glass beads and take home a battery tealight to showcase your glowing creation. Suitable for ages 8-12 years.


Junk BugsWednesday 14 January, 10-11am
Woodvale Library

Join waste educator Peg Davies and discover the fun side of recycling! Let your imagination run wild and create weird and wonderful bugs out of recycled materials collected from ReMida reuse centre. Suitable for ages 5-12 years.

Magic of CardsFriday 16 January, 10-11am
Duncraig Library

Join the amazing Cameron the Magician for a fun and interactive workshop learning tricks you will be able to perform right away, as well as skills that will allow you to design your own routines. Each attendee will also receive a professional quality pack of playing cards to learn with and take home. Suitable for ages 8-12 years.

Beachy NecklacesTuesday 20 January, 2-3pm
Duncraig Library
Design and create a beach-inspired necklace using recycled paper and your own sculpted Fimo shells. Make, mould and wear!
Dice and Dragon AdventuresWednesday 21 January, 10-11.30am, Whitford LibraryJoin us for an exciting dice-based tabletop role-playing adventure! Young heroes will explore a magical library, solve problems, battle enchanted creatures, and uncover the mystery of missing stories. Roll dice, make choices, work as a team, and earn delicious golden treasure! It's a perfect introduction to tabletop role-playing games. Suitable for ages 8-12 years.
LEGO ArtWednesday 21 January, 2-3.30pm
Woodvale Library

Do you love using paint and building with LEGO? Join local designer Ange Suleman and create a colourful and personalised keepsake to display in your bedroom. Children will paint their own treasure box, then decorate the top using LEGO pieces to create an imaginative 3D world. Suitable for ages 8-12 years.

Dream BoxSaturday 24 January, 2-3.30pm
Joondalup Library

Bring inspiration from your favourite nighttime dreams and craft them to life! Using a range of collage techniques, create your own dream box keepsake to take home. Suitable for ages 8-12 years.

Lego MirrorsWednesday 28 January, 
2-3.30pm, Duncraig Library
Get ready to combine creativity, colour and a little bit of construction fun! Join local designer Ange Suleman to create your own LEGO-framed mirror. Using a mix of LEGO bricks, kids will create the border of a mirror to create a colourful and unique piece of art for their room. Suitable for ages 8-12 years.

Summer Reading Journey

Join the City of Joondalup Libraries this summer for a reading journey packed with fun challenges, cool activities and the chance to win a major prize.  Let your imagination take flight this summer!
