The City is seeking expressions of interest from suitably qualified professionals for membership to its Joondalup Design Review Panel (JDRP).

The purpose of the JDRP is to provide independent performance-based design advice on large scale planning proposals. This advice is used to assist the City and applicants in refining and enhancing the design of planning proposals and to inform planning decisions.

Design advice will need to give consideration to the relevant planning framework and the 10 Design Principles as provided in State Planning Policy 7.0: Design of the Built Environment.

The City is looking to draw from a pool of up to ten design professionals, including a chairperson, deputy chairperson and eight panel members for a term of two years. The monthly JDRP meetings are generally held on a Wednesday at 10.30am and each meeting is proposed to comprise a maximum of six members.

Suitably qualified professionals with demonstrated experience in architecture, urban design, landscape architecture, sustainability, or other related specialist design professions are invited to nominate for membership. Panel members will be renumerated in accordance with the Terms of Reference and shall have due regard to the City of Joondalup Code of Conduct for Employees, Elected Members and Committee Members as it applies.

Before applying, nominees shall ensure they have read the Joondalup Design Review Panel Local Planning Policy and Terms of Reference.

Nominations shall include the below nomination form, the role that they are nominating for and a brief statement outlining how potential conflict of interest will be managed in respect to proponents, projects and/or property.

Nominations are to be submitted via email to info@joondalup.wa.gov.au to the attention of Chris Leigh, Director Planning and Community Development.

At the completion of the nomination period, nominations will be evaluated by the City, and panel members appointed by Council following the local government elections in October 2025.

Any enquiries in relation to the nomination can be directed to Cathrine Temple, Manager Planning Services on 9400 4000.

Nominations close on Monday 25 August 2025, 5pm.
