Bulk green waste

Green waste verge collection

The bulk green waste verge collection service is a scheduled collection and is for garden waste only. The collection service runs once per suburb, per financial year. To check the collection dates for your next green waste verge collection use the search tool below.

Please note collections for your area commence on the Monday and are completed by Friday.

What you can put out on your verge for collection:

  • Garden prunings
  • Tree loppings (less than 1.5m in length)
  • Palm leaves
  • Tree limbs, branches, small logs (1.5m in length).

Note: Branches more than 150mm in diameter must be cut into 300mm lengths.

What you cannot put out for collection:

  • Building rubble
  • Treated timber/pine
  • Bagged waste
  • Pallets
  • Railways sleepers
  • Processed wood
  • Sand or soil.

Important to remember:

Collections commence on Mondays and are completed by the Friday of the same week.

All bulk green waste must be placed loose on the verge with no use of boxes, bags or containers. All non-green waste items will be considered as littering. Bulk green waste is shredded and mulched, therefore it cannot be contaminated with any other waste.

Do not place bulk green waste on artificial turf, stenciled paving or near water meters or power domes. Only place green waste on your verge.

If you find you only have a very small amount of green waste or loose leaves, please place it into your lime green lid greens waste bin.

If you missed your bulk verge greens waste collection or can’t wait for your scheduled collection, residents can drop off their garden waste at the Wangara Greens Recycling Centre on weekends and public holidays. A valid City of Joondalup tipping voucher must be presented or charges will apply. The tipping voucher is on the back page of the Waste Guide sent to ratepayers.

Green waste tipping and mulch

Self haul greens

The City issues residents with four green waste tipping vouchers (found at the back of your Waste Guide). These can be used at the Wangara Greens Recycling Centre. Residents can dispose of up to 500kgs of clean green waste using their tipping vouchers.

These vouchers are valid for the financial year, and can only be used on weekends and public holidays at the Wangara Greens Recycling Centre. Entry fees will apply without a valid voucher.

Free mulch

The greens processed at the Wangara Greens Recycling Facility is turned into mulch. This mulch is available for use on your gardens to keep the moisture in the soil from evaporating and adds organic matter to the soil.

Pick up your FREE mulch using your mulch vouchers (available to download online) from Wangara Greens Recycling Facility. Mulch can be collected in trailers, or utes, all trailers and utes must be covered by tarpaulins and secured with rope when collecting mulch.
