Join the Wildflower Society of Western Australia for an informative and practical workshop focused on creating native and waterwise gardens. Presented as part of the City’s Native Plant Giveaway 2026 and the WA Tree Festival program, this session is ideal for anyone looking to get started with native gardening or build confidence in caring for locally native plants and trees.
Participants will learn the fundamentals of designing and establishing a native garden, including choosing suitable local species, preparing soil, planting correctly and maintaining a healthy, water-efficient garden over time. The workshop will also explore how native gardens play an important role in urban greening, helping to increase tree canopy, cool urban areas, improve biodiversity and create valuable habitat for local wildlife.
While this workshop is tailored for residents participating in the Native Plant Giveaway 2026, it is open to all residents interested in creating greener, more sustainable neighbourhoods.
Light catering and refreshments provided.
The 2026 WA Tree Festival is sponsored by the Government of Western Australia, with the support of WALGA and Perth NRM.
The Native Plant Giveaway is proudly co-funded by Water Corporation’s Waterwise Greening Scheme and is part of the City’s ambition to be a leading waterwise community. The Native Plant Giveaway is being hosted at the Wildflower Society of Western Australia’s new WA Wildflower Nursery.
