The City of Joondalup is located on Whadjuk Noongar Country. The area surrounding Lake Joondalup and Yellagonga Regional Park holds significant cultural and spiritual importance, and the City's name is derived from the Noongar word Doondalup, meaning "place of whiteness or glistening", a reference to the lake.
