Davidson Terrace in the Joondalup City Centre is set to undergo an exciting transformation, thanks to a $75,000 grant awarded to the City of Joondalup through the Streets Alive Program.

This initiative promises to add an extra, exciting dimension to one of the City Centre’s major thoroughfares, making it even safer, more vibrant, and a magnet for both residents and visitors.
The proposed enhancements include traffic calming measures, strategically placed street furniture, lush greenery, and playful design elements.

These improvements aim to create a more welcoming and people-focused environment, encouraging longer stays and increased foot traffic, which will benefit local businesses and enhance community engagement.

Streets Alive is a community-led funding initiative delivered by Town Team Movement, in partnership with Main Roads WA and the Western Australian Local Government Association (WALGA). It is designed to improve the safety and vibrancy of local roads, making them more welcoming and people-focused.

Joondalup Mayor Albert Jacob said the City will use the funding to provide a safer, better-connected and more enticing Davidson Terrace that encourages people to stay longer in Joondalup, supporting local businesses.

“We will build Davidson Terrace into a vibrant, people-centric space, radiating energy and community pride that promotes our City Centre as a lively and safe destination,” he said.

"Our City Centre is the heart and soul of the north, loved and enjoyed by our community and visitors. Through initiatives such as Streets Alive, we are confident that the Joondalup City Centre will continue to grow from strength to strength.”

The Streets Alive Program received 46 applications for its latest funding round, totalling over $3.5 million.

“This project highlights the City's commitment to fostering collaboration between local government, businesses and the community,” Mayor Jacob said.
