The 16 Days in WA campaign, led by the Department of Communities, aims to raise awareness and inspire action to stop violence against women.

16 Days in WA campaign starts Tuesday 25 November (International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women) and ends on Wednesday 10 December (Human Rights Day). These dates highlight the global connection between ending gender-based violence and protecting human rights. The campaign takes its inspiration from the worldwide 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence, reinforcing that this is a shared responsibility across communities.

The 2025 theme is “Stopping Family and Domestic Violence: Play your part”, encouraging everyone to take action—big or small—to help prevent violence and support those affected. Whether it’s challenging harmful attitudes, promoting equality, or sharing resources, we all have a role to play.

During the campaign, community members are encouraged to:

  • Learn more about the signs of family and domestic violence.
  • Share resources and information with colleagues and community members.
  • Participate in events and activities that promote respect and equality.

Joondalup March: Play Your Part

The day will feature keynote speakers including lived experience experts and leaders in the fight to end violence, offering insights and inspiration. Explore a variety of stallholders, showcasing local services, resources and support networks and learn how you can contribute to making a difference. The event will culminate in a march, where we’ll walk together to raise awareness and show solidarity with survivors of violence.
