The City of Joondalup in partnership with Perth Symphony Orchestra is proud to present the Young Musician of the Year Award 2025.

We’re shining the spotlight on classically trained musicians aged 14 to 23 across five epic categories: Brass, Percussion, Strings, Woodwind and Piano

If you’ve dreamed of owning the stage, playing to a packed house, and proving your talent can cut through the competition, here’s your chance to turn that dream into reality. This isn’t your average search for the next emerging talent… and this is more than a title — it’s your launchpad. The winner will win the opportunity to perform live with Perth Symphony Orchestra in 2026, plus share in a prize pool of $5,000!

So if you’re 14-23, love music, live for the stage and want to show the state exactly what you’re made of — we want to hear from you. Video submissions open Friday1 August and close Sunday 31 August

Finalists will perform live at Redmond Theatre, where five highly respected judges in the WA music industry will decide who takes home the coveted title - and the chance to perform live with Perth Symphony in 2026.

The judging panel includes Dr Ashley William-Smith (Woodwind), Dr Paul Tanner (Percussion), Stephanie Nicholls (Piano), Keiran Hurley (Brass), and Paul Wright (Strings).
