The City of Joondalup has completed major upgrades at Chichester Park in Woodvale, delivering a range of new recreational facilities designed to support active lifestyles and enhance community wellbeing.
The project was made possible through an $800,000 investment from the Western Australian Government under the PlayOn WA: 2030 by 2030 initiative and forms part of the City’s Capital Works Program.
The redevelopment project includes:
- A new beginner-level skate park.
- A new playspace featuring modern equipment, limestone surrounds, soft fall and shade sails.
- New mulched garden areas and additional tree planting.
- Extensions and improvements to the existing footpath network.
- New picnic shelters and seating areas.
- A new drink fountain with integrated dog bowl.
- A new basketball and netball pad with line marking.
The upgrades reflect priorities identified through community consultation undertaken in August 2023 and will provide improved opportunities for recreation, social connection and outdoor activity for residents of all ages.
Joondalup Mayor Daniel Kingston said the project has transformed Chichester Park into an even more welcoming and versatile community space.
“Chichester Park is a much-loved local destination and these upgrades have created new opportunities for people of all ages to get active, connect with others and enjoy the outdoors,” Mayor Kingston said.
“The new skate park, playspace and sporting facilities complement the park’s existing amenities and provide something for everyone, whether they’re learning new skills, spending time with family and friends or simply enjoying the open space.
“Importantly, these improvements were shaped by feedback from the local community, helping ensure the park continues to meet the needs and expectations of Woodvale residents now and into the future.
“We thank the WA Government for their support in bringing this project to fruition through the PlayOn WA: 2030 by 2030 initiative.”
