Children’s Book Week is the annual celebration of children’s books and reading in Australia. Established in 1946, it is Australia’s longest running national literacy initiative.
Each year, schools and libraries from all over Australia spend a week celebrating Australian books, authors and illustrators. In addition, events hosted by City of Joondalup Libraries give children the opportunity to meet with their favourite authors and illustrators.
This year, City of Joondalup Libraries will host nine authors, illustrators and storytellers over a two-week period, from Saturday 15 August - Saturday 29 August. The theme this year is ‘Symphony of Stories’.
Schools
This year, primary schools and home school students from the City of Joondalup will have the opportunity to hear from eight of Western Australia’s beloved children’s book authors and illustrators:
| Kylie Howarth | Cristy Burne | Cindy Lane |
| Sean E Avery | Norman Jorgensen | Aska |
| Ebony Froome | Deb Fitzpatrick |
