The City of Joondalup’s Community Safety Field Officers have unveiled a refreshed and more visible presence across the community.
Feedback from residents and team members highlighted the need for clearer identification and improved approachability while Field Officers are out in the community.
In response, the City has introduced two key updates:
- Vehicle decals: Community Safety vehicles now feature new, more distinctive decals to enhance visibility.
- Uniforms: Field Officers have transitioned from navy blue shirts to beige shirts – a more traditional style of uniform worn by Field Officers across other local governments – complemented by load bearing vests and updated radios to improve identification, comfort and approachability.
These changes are designed to strengthen community engagement and ensure Field Officers are easily recognisable and accessible to the public.
The updated look coincides with the City’s new marketing campaign, ‘Right call. Right response’, which encourages residents to understand who to contact in different situations.
The campaign clarifies when to call emergency services, police or the City’s Community Safety team, helping ensure urgent matters receive immediate attention.
For local issues such as parking concerns, animal matters and littering, the City’s Community Safety team can be reached on 9400 4000.
Emergencies and situations where lives are at risk should always be reported by calling 000.
For non-urgent police matters, residents should contact 131 444.
The City’s Field Officers provide an important local service, responding quickly to everyday issues and helping maintain safe, well-managed neighbourhoods.
By directing calls to the appropriate service, the campaign helps reduce pressure on emergency lines while ensuring residents receive timely and effective assistance.
