At Joondalup Libraries, we believe that every child deserves a fantastic start to their reading journey. That’s why we’ve developed a range of free, borrowable literacy packs designed to support families at every stage of early learning.


Reading Ready Packs (Ages 4–6)

IMG_E7323.JPGCreated in consultation with literacy experts from the Dyslexia-SPELD Foundation, these kits are perfect for Kindy and Pre-Primary children learning to read independently. Each pack includes:

  • a helpful parent guide on how children learn to read
  • four decodable books
  • a rhyming picture book
  • a phonics-based game
  • a sound matching game
  • rhyming playing cards

Make early literacy part of your everyday routine with these fun and practical packs designed to help your child Read, Talk, Sing, Write, and Play. Each pack includes:

  • engaging books to share
  • a felt story to spark imagination
  • a hands-on game or activity
  • a cuddly literacy buddy to encourage playful learning

 

Better Beginnings Baby Packs (newborns)

J39023.jpgHave you recently welcomed a new baby? You’re entitled to a free Better Beginnings Baby Pack! Collect yours from your Community Health Nurse at your 8-week check or from your local City of Joondalup library. While you’re there:

  • Sign up for a library membership for you and your baby
  • Join our free Rhyme Time sessions, perfect for babies aged 0–18 months
  • Meet other new parents and enjoy delightful rhymes and songs that support early language development.

Children learn best through everyday moments filled with joy, connection, and play. Visit your nearest City of Joondalup Library to borrow a pack and make early literacy a part of your family’s story.
