Enjoy winter at the libraries this July with a range of fun activities that inspire creativity and encourage curiosity.  

Please note:

  • Cost is $5 per child per activity.
  • Online bookings open on Monday 22 June at 9am.
  • Bookings and online payment are essential, there will be no refunds issued.
  • Parents/carers of children under 12 years are required by library policy to remain in the building while their children attend the event.
  • There is a maximum of three events per child.

Do your children or grandchildren know what cassette tapes, floppy discs, typewriters and corded telephones are? Ignite their curiosity and join Nicola from Play in the Past for a fun afternoon exploring, learning and playing with a wide range of vintage items. Bring history to life and go RETRO!

Suitable for ages 5 – 12 years.
Paint a Vinyl RecordTuesday 7 July, 
2-3:30pm, Woodvale Library

Get creative and make art that spins! Join local designer Ange Suleman and transform an old vinyl record into a colourful one-of-a-kind piece of art to take home.  

Suitable for ages 8 – 12 years. 
Wizard SchoolWednesday 8 July, 
10-11am, Duncraig Library
Experience a fun magic-meets-STEM workshop where kids become library wizards, complete “magical” science experiments and earn their spellcaster certificate. 
Suitable for ages 6– 10 years.
Simple Sew AnimalsThursday 9 July, 
2-3pm, Joondalup Library
Design and build your very own magical fairy house with local designer Ange Suleman. Children will use soft cloud clay to sculpt and decorate a whimsical little house, creating a magical keepsake to display at home. 
Suitable for ages 8-12 years.
Junior Coral KeepersMonday 13 July, 
10-11am, Joondalup Library

Ever wanted to create a coral reef? Well, now you can! Join us for a dive under the sea to learn about the corals on the shore of Perth, and then get hands on by making your very own reef!
Suitable for ages 8-12 years.

Uthando Doll-makingTuesday 14 July, 
10am-12:30pm, Duncraig Library

Discover the joy of helping others and learn how to make a special doll for a child in need. The Uthando Project is a volunteer-driven initiative that provides handmade dolls to young children in KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa. Parents and grandparents are encouraged to participate with their children, sharing skills, creativity and enjoyment together. All materials provided. No experience necessary.

Cloud Clay RocketsTuesday 14 July, 
2-3:30pm, Joondalup Library

Create a glowing space rocket using cloud clay built around a glass jar with local designer Ange Suleman. In this hands-on session, you’ll sculpt and decorate your design, then add a soft tea light that shines at night. 
Suitable for ages 8 – 12 years. 

Make a Minecraft MovieWednesday 15 July, 10-11:30am, Whitford Library

Learn how to make your own stop motion movie with Minecraft Cubeez! All you need to bring is a fully charged tablet or phone and your imagination.

Winter Treasure Hunt

Visit the Libraries any time during the school holidays and see if you can find all 10 images hidden in the Children's area.

Holiday Toddler Time

Join in these special holiday Toddler Time sessions, with stories, singing, movement and active play.

Suitable for children aged 18-30 months.

Holiday Time

Join the Libraries for interactive play and creative storytelling during our regular Story Time sessions. Suitable for families and children of all ages. 

STEAMing into Story Time

Children can dive into exciting science, technology, engineering, art and mathematics (STEAM) activities that spark imagination, foster creativity and build critical thinking and program solving skills.

Family Time
