Through the Streets Alive grant program, the City of Joondalup has been awarded $75,000 to deliver pedestrian-friendly upgrades to Davidson Terrace.
Following extensive community engagement, including public polling and collaboration with a dedicated community project group made up of local business owners, community groups and residents, the community identified the following priorities to guide the redesign of Davidson Terrace.
Key principles:
-
More opportunities for people and greenery - widen footpaths and create new memorable experiences for people and comfortable green environments
-
An even more connected Joondalup - It's fun, easy and safe to move around the town centre and connect with our diverse community
-
From small things, big things grow - Starting with the Davidson Terrace Intervention will create a ripple effect of ideas, a groundswell of community participation and increased vibrancy across our town centre environment over a longer period of time
-
Slower streets - streets that are slower for vehicles create a safer and more inclusive environment for walking and riding.
Key features:
-
Plants
-
Pedestrian crossing
-
Street furniture
-
Accessibility features
-
Public art
-
Bike lane
The designs have been shaped through this community-led process, with the community project group playing a vital role in ensuring the outcome reflects the values, aspirations and ideas shared by local residents throughout the engagement journey.
Construction is scheduled to commence in the new year.
*The proposed design represents the intended direction of the project and may be adjusted based on evolving project capabilities.
