Community Funding Program

About the Community Funding Program

The Community Funding Program provides financial support to incorporated community groups to conduct projects, programs, events or activities that benefit the City of Joondalup community. The program provides two levels of funding:

  • small grants ($10,000 and lower)
  • large grants (greater than $10,000).

Eligibility criteria

All applications must meet the following criteria:

  • The project, program, event or activity that funding is being sought for must benefit or service the City of Joondalup community.
  • It is preferred that the project, program, event or activity is delivered within the City of Joondalup local government area.
  • The project, program, event or activity must align with one or more of the Community Funding Program Priorities.
  • The project, program, event or activity has NOT received financial support through another funding program from the City within the same financial year.
  • The applicant must be incorporated under the Associations Incorporations Act 2015 (or other Australian State Government Incorporations Act).

Funding priorities

Applicants must address at least one of the four funding priorities:

  • strengthen community participation
  • encourage connected communities
  • promote healthy and active lifestyles
  • build resilient and sustainable communities.

2026–27 Community Funding Program – Round 1

Round one of the 2026–27 Community Funding Program opens Monday 3 August 2026. Applications close on Friday 28 August 2026.

Information Sessions:

To support applications, the City is running two Community Funding Information Sessions. 

  • Session 1 – Tuesday 21 July 2026, 5:30 – 7:00pm, Joondalup Library ground floor meeting room (102 Boas Avenue, Joondalup) 
  • Session 2 – Thursday 23 July 2026, 1:00 – 2:30pm, Joondalup Library ground floor meeting room (102 Boas Avenue, Joondalup)

Registration is required.

It is encouraged that all prospective applicants attend one of the FREE sessions. 

Both sessions will provide information on the program and advice on how prepare and write a competitive grant application. Community Funding specialists will be available to answer any of your application questions.

How to apply

To apply:

  1. Download the Community Funding Program Guidelines (available below).
  2. Contact the program administrator on 9400 4000 to discuss the project, program, event or activity before submitting an application (this is essential for your application to be eligible for funding).
  3. Complete the online application form. The application form will be made live when a round is open.

Important notes

  • Applications submitted online via SmartyGrants and can only be made when funding rounds are open. 
  • Funding opens on the first Monday in August and closes on the last Friday of that month.
