Percy Doyle Outdoor Youth Facilities

The City is investigating the feasibility of future skate and/or BMX facilities within Percy Doyle Reserve through preparation of a business case, as requested by Council at its February 2021 meeting.

Council’s decision followed the adoption of the City of Joondalup Outdoor Youth Recreation Strategy which identified a lack of suitable facilities for young people in the southern suburbs of the City.

To inform the business case, the City sought feedback from young people, users of Percy Doyle, and nearby residents on three options that illustrate what skate, BMX and associated facilities for young people could look like. The feedback provided is being used by the City, alongside technical analysis, to evaluate the options and determine which are preferred. The preferred option(s) will be subject to more detailed financial modelling and risk assessment as part of the business case.

It is anticipated that a business case will be presented to Council in late 2021 or early 2022. Once the business case is complete, future broad community consultation on a preferred concept plan for facilities will be undertake to inform Council’s decision on whether to progress skate and/or BMX facilities within Percy Doyle Reserve.
