Find information on how to request building plans for approved structures in the City of Joondalup. Most of the City’s building plans are held in micro-fiche format. Where available, the city can provide landowners with copies of site plan, floor plan and elevations.
Who can apply
- Property owners: Requests are limited to individuals officially recognised as the property owner in the City's records.
- Authorised representatives: Written authorisation from the property owner is required for representatives to request copies.
How to apply
- Submit your completed application form with fee payment through one of the following:
- Online (preferred): Apply through the Online Lodgement Portal for efficiency and convenience.
- In person: Drop by the City of Joondalup Administration Centre, located at 90 Boas Avenue, Joondalup. You will be encouraged and assistance offered to register for the City’s Online Lodgement Portal.
Application fees
Fees vary based on the type of plan and are as follows:
- Residential (site plan, floor plan, and elevations): $73.50 per license/permit
- Residential – one plan only (site plan or floor plan): $33.70 per plan
- Commercial/Mixed Use (site plan, floor plan, and elevations): $103.80 per license/permit
- Commercial/Mixed Use – one plan only (site plan or floor plan): $38.70 per plan
Once your request has been lodged and accepted, an invoice containing a reference number, the payment amount and details of how to pay, will be forwarded to your email address.
Processing your application
The processing time can extend up to 10 working days, after which copies will be emailed or posted to you.
Conditions
- Fees are an estimate only, and an invoice will be sent with the full amount. Payment is required prior to release of copies of building plans.
- If you are not the owner of the above-mentioned property, please be advised that the owner's authorisation (signature) is required for the release of the plans. If the building forms are a part of a strata, duplex or any non-green title lot consent from the strata corporate body or individual owners is required.
- Plans prior to 1970 may not be available.
- Every effort will be made to obtain copies of the plans. However, if the plans are not available or the copies are not clear, the search cost of the request for copies of plans will not be refunded.
- This process can take up to 10 working days.
- The City will provide the plans to the best of its ability. However, it cannot guarantee the quality of the print as the original plans may be subject to wear and tear, blurred print etc.
- Cost estimated provided is subject to change, depending on the availability of the requested plans.
