Digitisation Station

Do you have boxes of precious memories on video tapes that you can no longer watch?

Come to the Digitisation Station at Woodvale Library to convert your tape into a digital video file for free. Watch your memories again on your computer, tablet or smartphone and share them with your friends and family.

What it does

  1. The Digitisation Station plays your video on a laptop.
  2. The laptop records your video and converts the recording into an mp4 video file. NOTE: the video must play in real-time, so allow enough time to play the entire recording.
  3. Save the file to an USB or external hard drive to take home.

What to bring

  1. The tape that you want to convert.
  2. A storage device such as a USB or external hard drive to save your video to. NOTE: Allow at least 1GB storage per 1 hour of video. A Minimum 5GB device is recommended.
  3. Headphones to listen to your video.
