Ninja Warrior Course at Whitfords Nodes

Visitors to Whitfords Nodes Park in Hillarys can unleash their inner warrior at the City of Joondalup park Ninja Warrior Obstacle Course located at the popular health and wellbeing hub located near the 145-step stairway structure and fitness equipment.

The Warrior Course is the first mega course in Australia and has been designed in a similar fashion to the obstacles on the popular Australian Ninja Warrior TV show. The challenge is to complete each obstacle landing only on the green mounds following the circuit route from start to finish.

It is appropriate for users aged 12 and over and is a fun way to develop strength and agility.

Please be aware that this facility is not available for booking or exclusive use by individuals as it is a public facility (similar to the City’s playspaces and other fitness installations).

Important: if you have a medical condition, are overweight, aged over 40 or haven’t exercised in a long time, before starting a new exercise program, you should have a medical check-up. Please note that the City is not liable for any injury or loss sustained as a result of using the equipment.

Hillarys Beach Park (Whitfords Nodes Health and Wellbeing Hub)

Transformation into the health and wellbeing hub

Whitfords Nodes Health and Wellbeing Hub at Hillarys Beach Park now includes a large shaded public playground for the enjoyment of children aged between two and 12 years old. The playground includes swings, combination and climbing units, nature play elements, sand play and all-abilities play. The park also has many undercover picnic settings, benches and barbecues, new tree planting, an improved irrigation system, drink fountains and universal access footpaths.

Visitors to the park can also enjoy the iconic exercise stairway that extends to a height of 22m up the dune landscape and has 145 steps to climb with rest stops along the way. The top offers panoramic views of the coastline and the harbour. The exercise stairway is linked to multiple running tracks of varying lengths and difficulty through the park and the dunes. At the base of the stairway is a dedicated outdoor fitness equipment area suited to body weight exercises and calisthenics.

The health and wellbeing hub is also home to Australia’s largest outdoor park warrior course featuring 16 innovative and challenging obstacles over a 78 metre soft fall surface. Participants can register and record their times via an app, available by scanning a QR code located at the starting line of the course, allowing them to challenge themselves or others.

Warwick Open Space

Warwick Open Space is classified as a major conservation area and is ranked in the City of Joondalup’s top five bushland areas due to its high biodiversity values. The reserve covers approximately 60 hectares of bushland and is a great place for a nature walk or bike ride.

Penistone Park

Penistone Park opened on 12 May 2018 and includes a community sporting facility, softball infrastructure, two tennis courts and tennis hit-up wall, softball and cricket nets, netball and three-on-three basketball pad as well as a playground, barbecue and picnic shelter.

Burns Beach

A family favourite, Burns Beach is a sheltered swimming spot that sits within the wildlife-rich waters of Marmion Marine Park. Walk the coastal path, relax on the white-sand beach, barbecue in the grassed parks, or just sit atop the limestone cliffs and drink in a spectacular Indian Ocean sunset.

Look out for seabirds, dolphins, sea lions, rays and a huge diversity of other species from the lookout points. Interpretive signs along the way provide insights into the native flora, fauna and history of the area.

Dine ocean-side at the café, or try chasing some fish by throwing in a line from the groyne or northern end of the beach.
