Discovery Outbound - Fremantle Prison Tour

'As I walked out the door toward the gate that would lead to my freedom, I knew if I didn't leave my bitterness and hatred behind, I'd still be in prison' - Nelson Mandela.

Though he did not walk through the gates of Fremantle Prison, many a man and woman did, right up until November 1991.

Come along and learn about (or revisit) the historic hallways of this world heritage listed convict site in a one hour tour.  There is also the possibility of a brief group talk about the history of the Fremantle markets or you can freely explore them before the bus departs at 1pm.

  • 8:45am - meet at Whitford Library to depart 9am
  • 10am - one hour guided tour followed by free time to further explore Fremantle and to purchase refreshments at nearby establishments.  Possible Fremantle Markets history talk.
  • 1pm - depart on bus

Ticket price includes return trip by bus from Whitford Library and prison tour.
