Discovery Session - Understanding Matrescence

Understanding matrescence is an engaging, evidence-informed presentation exploring the profound identity shift women experience when they become mothers.

While much focus is placed on preparing for a baby, few women are prepared for the internal transformation of motherhood.

This talk introduces matrescence, explains why many mothers experience overwhelm, guilt and identity confusion. Offering practical frameworks to build self-trust, compassion and resilience while highlighting the importance of supporting mothers for stronger families and communities.

The presentation is designed to normalise the motherhood transition, reduce isolation and provide language and understanding around topics such as identity change, mental load, shifting relationships, career changes and modern parenting pressures.
