Award-winning Western Australian author Holden Sheppard returns to the world of his bestselling debut Invisible Boys with Yeah the Boys: a bold, propulsive new novel about male friendship, masculinity, modern gay life and the first gay male AFL player. Unapologetic and unforgettable, this latest release is Sheppard at the height of his powers. Born in Geraldton, Sheppard is a rising literary force and one of Australia’s most compelling contemporary voices.
About the book
A powerful follow‑up to Invisible Boys, this novel reunites Charlie, Zeke and Hammer seven years after leaving their rural hometown. Now young men, each is struggling to define himself—Charlie chasing a fading music dream, Zeke searching for purpose in a gay footy team, and Hammer navigating fame while still closeted in the AFL.
When Hammer sparks a public controversy, the three are thrown back into each other’s lives. Gritty, bold and deeply human, this is a story of friendship, masculinity and what it really means to become a man.
Dymocks Karrinyup will be selling Holden’s book on the night and he will be available for book signing.
