Create Waterwise and Wildlife Friendly Gardens

Native Plant Giveaway

Do you live in an ecological corridor?

Habitat and ecological corridor mapping in the City of Joondalup shows us that our bushland and green spaces are extremely fragmented. This makes it hard for wildlife to move between different habitats to feed and succeed, and presents barriers for plant pollination, germination and dispersal. It’s also important in a changing climate to build resilience through increasing connectivity of green spaces.

Many urban critters, like our beloved feathered friends (Splendid Fairy-wrens, Willy wagtails and New Holland Honeyeaters) are confined to bushland and coastal reserves. Private gardens and verges play a vital role in reconnecting habitat and creating a healthy, biodiverse neighbourhood.

Check if you live in a ‘Regional Ecological Linkage on the City’s website. Click ‘Regional Ecological Linkage on the left-hand menu, then find your address.
