Patrick O’Brien OAM was a highly respected chef, educator and mentor whose career spanned nearly five decades in the hospitality industry. Trained in Ireland, he later became a cornerstone of Western Australia’s culinary education as Director of Hospitality, Tourism and Culinary Arts at North Metropolitan TAFE.
A Life Member and WA President of the Australian Culinary Federation, Patrick also served as a Worldchefs Grade A Judge and international team coach, guiding young chefs to success on the world stage.
In 2023, he was awarded the Medal of the Order of Australia for his outstanding service to hospitality and training.
Renowned for his passion, professionalism and generosity, Patrick’s legacy lives on through the many chefs he inspired and the standards he helped elevate across Australia’s culinary community.
