Invitation Art Prize

From robotic vacuums and kinetic sculpture to the Kimberley night sky, this year’s exhibition brings together ten newly commissioned works at the Joondalup Contemporary Art Gallery.

Taking part are David Attwood, Amanda Bell, David Brazier, Christophe Canato, Jacky Cheng, Brett Leigh Dicks, Louise Malarvie, Amy Perejuan-Capone, Ash Tower and Ben Galmirr Ward, with works spanning painting, photography, sculpture and installation.

Come and see this year’s winning artwork, Vdes II, by Perth artist Amy Perejuan-Capone, who has taken home the $25,000 acquisitive prize.

The striking installation features 144 handmade ceramic tiles, each holding a real bee encased in metal and resting in an impression made by the artist’s thumb. Exploring life, loss and our connection to the natural world, Vdes II will now join the City of Joondalup’s permanent Art Collection.

Discover the winning artwork alongside nine other newly commissioned works by Western Australian artists.

Don't forget to vote for your favourite! Have your say in the $500 Popular Choice Award, with the winning artist announced after the exhibition closes.
