Public Art Collection

The City delivers a Public Art program that contributes to creating a sense of place, promotes the expression of local identity, and reflects on the shared values of the community.

Public Art is an artwork that has been created by an artist for public display and located in a publicly accessible place, usually outdoors or as part of a civic building such as a library, streetscape or parks.

Public art is designed to celebrate or reflect upon specific values and principles that are shared by a community, and in general, Public Art strives to accentuate and interpret these values in an artistic way, often defining and enhancing the environment in which they are situated.

The City has a significant collection of Public Artwork acquired since 1998. The Public Art Collection now boasts over 22 artworks.
