About Youth Services

The City of Joondalup’s Youth Services team coordinates a range of events, activities and services for young people aged 11 – 25 years.

As well as providing young people with positive activities they can get involved in, the City’s youth programs are also designed to:

  • Enhance life skills and create opportunities for young people;
  • Build self esteem;
  • Increase communication skills;
  • Support and empower young people; and
  • Showcase the talents of young people.

Confidentiality

Confidentiality means that the information you share with the City’s Youth Workers is private. Other professionals have no access to any of your records without your permission. The only exceptions to this rule of confidentiality are the following:

  • If you are likely to do physical harm to yourself or another person, it is a Youth Worker’s duty to take steps to protect your safety and the safety of others. This may mean communicating with the Police, mental health professionals or your parents to name a few;
  • If you share information about currently occurring abuse or neglect of any young person, it may be necessary for your Youth Worker to report that information; and
  • If ordered to do so by law, or as part of court proceedings.
